McAllen ~ Juan Peña, affectionately known as Yani, was a man of great courage, adventurous spirit, and an unwavering zest for life. Born on October 31, 1945, passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 10, 2023. It is with heavy hearts that we recount his life, rich in its simplicity and profound in its beauty. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering optimism.

In his prime, Yani was known to be a man of great intellect and a sense of humour rivaling the wit of jesters.Yani was a loving husband to Maria Del Socorro Peña and a pillar of strength for his children - Minerva, Santos, and Manuela Peña. He was also a doting father-in-law to Araceli Peña and cherished his grandchildren, Cynthia, Sally, and Pixley Peña. Yani was not just a family man, but also a successful businessman who ran Peña’s Auto Parts with dedication and integrity. His business served as more than just a source of income but also a platform for his natural ability to converse with people, solving their dilemmas whilst also captivating them with his unique blend of humor and wisdom.

Yani’s life, though filled with responsibility and duty, was also one of joy and leisure. His face was often lit by the glow of the television screen, his ears delighting in the melodies of music. His house, a reflection of his personality, was maintained with glorious attention to detail, a testament to his love for his family, providing them a place of comfort and warmth.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday, October 15, 2023 with the recital of the Holy Rosary at 6:30 pm at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 am Monday, October 16, 2023 at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in McAllen.
