Hidalgo ~ Juanita Ricarda Gonzalez, age 71, of Hidalgo, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on September 7, 1952, in El Campo, Texas, Juanita was a beloved mother, partner, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be remembered for her resilience, generosity, and unwavering care for those closest to her. She was a pillar of strength and love for her family.
After a fulfilling career of over 30 years with the Hidalgo Independent School District, Juanita retired in 2020. Her dedication to her work was unparalleled, and she built many close connections with her coworkers throughout her tenure. In her retirement, Juanita found great joy in family gatherings and outings with friends. Her presence was a source of comfort and happiness, and her absence will be deeply felt.
Juanita is survived by her adoring daughter, Aitza Morales. As the eldest of eight, she will be lovingly remembered by her siblings: Amalia Vowell, Juan Gonzalez, Max Rodriguez, Humberto Rodriguez, Fernando Rodriguez, Paula Rodriguez, and Raul Jr. Rodriguez. She will also be deeply missed by her niece, Michelle Gonzalez, and her beloved grandniece and grandnephews, whom she cared for as grandchildren: Omar Cantu, Jada Cantu, and Mateo Mendoza. She is preceded in death by her dearly loved partner, Luis Morales.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with the Holy Rosary being recited at 7:00 PM, at Rivera Funeral Home in McAllen, TX, on August 11, 2024. Mass will be held from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, followed by the burial at the City of Hidalgo Cemetery at 11:00 AM on August 12, 2024.
