Lilia Guerrero, known affectionately as Lily, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2023, in Pearland, Texas. Born on August 5, 1953, in McAllen, Texas, she was a loving, generous, and thoughtful woman who touched the lives of many throughout her 69 years.

Lily was raised in Mission, Texas, where she attended and graduated from Mission High School. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Woman's University, launching a successful and fulfilling career in healthcare. Lily was a dedicated and compassionate nurse, working as a registered nurse at the McAllen Medical Hospital and later as a school nurse for the Mission Independent School District.

Throughout her life, Lily was known for her kindness and generosity. She had a natural ability to make others feel at ease and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her warm and caring nature extended to her love for animals, particularly cats, and she was known to have provided a loving home to many feline friends over the years.

Lily was also an active member of her community, participating in various local organizations mainly the Lions Club. She was a dedicated volunteer.

As a nurse, Lily was a true professional, always putting the needs of her patients first. She was known for her exceptional bedside manner, consistently going above and beyond to ensure the comfort and well-being of those in her care. Her colleagues admired her dedication, and her patients were grateful for her kindness and compassion.

Lily was a beloved member of a large extended family, including numerous cousins, friends, and acquaintances who will dearly miss her.  Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of many who had the privilege of knowing her.

In her later years, Lily continued to be an active and engaged member of her community, enjoying her retirement by spending time with family and friends, pursuing her interests, and volunteering her time and talents to various causes. She remained a devoted cat lover, providing a loving home to several cats who brought her joy and companionship.

Lily's legacy of love, generosity, and thoughtfulness will live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew her. She leaves behind a lasting impact on her community, her profession, and the lives of countless individuals who were touched by her kindness and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Lily's memory to a local animal shelter or rescue organization, reflecting her lifelong love for cats and her commitment to their welfare.

A Celebration of Lily's life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, June 23, 2023 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission, Texas. The Celebration of Life will provide an opportunity for friends, family, and loved ones to come together and share stories, memories, and the many ways in which she enriched their lives.

As we remember Lilia "Lily" Guerrero, let us honor her memory by striving to embody the qualities she so effortlessly displayed throughout her life: love, generosity, and thoughtfulness.
