Lucia Alaniz Casas, born on March 17, 1930, to Victor and Maria Alaniz in Mission, TX, left this earth to join the love of her life and husband of nearly 65 years, Miguel Casas, Jr., on September 3, 2020. Lucia and Miguel were married on April 14, 1947, only two years after they met in 1945.
Lucia was also reunited in heaven with both of her parents, her 8 brothers and sisters, and one daughter born sleeping.
She is survived by her three children Linda Allala (Robert), Mike Casas (Rita), and John Casas, along with 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Lucia dedicated her life to being a caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother, and cared for her husband and children throughout her whole life. She loved cooking, watching telenovelas, and enjoyed spending time with her family whenever she had the chance. Lucia will live on in our memories and in our hearts, whether as Mom, Tia, Grandma, Oma or Grandma Lucy.
Lucia will be remembered for her smile and laugh, the curlers in her hair, the smell of Estée Lauder, greeting family late at night with snacks after traveling, and waking us all up with the smell of breakfast. The moments spent with her will be cherished for a lifetime by all those who loved her and miss her dearly.
A small graveside service was held May 14, 2022 at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mission, Texas.
