Luis Alcantar

Alton ~ Luis Alcantar, 84, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Saturday, June 21, 1941 in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico, the son of Julio Alcantar and Trinidad Ortega. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Hilda M. Alcantar in 2019. 

He is survived by his children: Jose Luis Alcantar (Sylvia), Imelda Cantu (Arnoldo†), Juan Alcantar (Brisa), San Juanita Perez (Roberto), Cynthia Alcantar and Ashley Alcantar; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday, April 12, 2026 with the Holy Rosary being recited at 6:00 pm at Rivera Funeral Home, 1901 Pecan Blvd., McAllen. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Monday, April 13, 2026 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 620 N. Dunlap Ave., Mission. Interment will follow at Garden of Angels Cemetery, 7015 Garden of Angels Blvd., Mission. 

Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen.
