Alton/Carrizo Springs ~ Manuel Vargas, Jr., 69, passed away on Tuesday May 17, 2022 at Mission Regional Medical Center. He was born on Monday October 6, 1952, the son of Manuel and Bernarda (Rivera) Vargas. Born in Mission, Texas, Mr. Vargas was orginianlly from Carrizo Springs where he was raised by his grandparents: Florencio and Dolores Vargas. He work as a Custodian for 26 years with Carrizo Springs ISD until he retired in 2018.
He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; two sisters: Maria Lydia Bustamante and Dominga Rodriguez.
He is survived by his siblings: Jose (Juanita) Vargas of Alton, Maria V. Ochoa of Mission, Martha Saldivar of Taft, Daniel (Alicia) Vargas of Alton, Armando (Victoria) Vargas of San Juan, Ruben Vargas of Mission, Mario (Ludivina) Vargas of Palmview, and Jose Francisco (Janie) Vargas of Mesquite.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm Thursday, May 19, 2022 with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm at Rivera Funeral Home, 1813 N. Conway Ave. in Mission. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, May 20, 2022 at Rivera Funeral Home in Mission. Interment will follow at 2:00 pm at Santa Fe Celestial Gardens, 5050 3 Mile Line Rd., Mission. Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of Mission.
