Maria Rosenda Basaldua

McAllen ~ Maria Rosenda Basaldua, 79, entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 13, 2025 at her McAllen home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on .Monday, February 25, 1946 in McAllen, Texas, the daughter of Agustin Obregon and Consuelo Morales.

She is preceded in death by her parents Agustin Obregon and Consuelo Obregon; husband: Jose Guadalupe Basaldua; sons: Jose Cruz Basaldua and Omar Basaldua; grandson: Andrew Dominique Basaldua and great-granddaughter: Gigi de la Paz

She is survived by her children: Linda Diaz, Consuelo Rangel, Guadalupe Tijerina, Maria Corina Basaldua and Robert Basaldua; 25 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will  be held from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm Tuesday, June 17, 2025 with the Holy Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm at Rivera Funeral Home, 1901 Pecan Blvd., McAllen. Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 900 S. 23rd St., McAllen.

Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Basaldua, Carlos Rangel, Luis Angel De La Paz, Ernesto Treviño, Anthony Rangel, and Jose Treviño.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen.
