Maria Guadalupe Garza

McAllen - Maria Guadalupe Garza Ruiz, 94, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 10, 2019 surrounded by her loving family in Edinburg. Maria was born on September 25, 1924 in China, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Guillermo Garza Garibay and Dolores Cantu Rivera. She was a long time resident of McAllen. Maria was a strong believer in God. Her faith and Love in God was immense. She was a faithful servant of God, a provider to her family, a strong hard working women that loved her family very much. She loved to travel especially to the Holy Land of Jerusalem, a trip she had made yearly for the past 20 years. Maria was a very positive and giving women and truly lived her her to the fullest. She was preceded in death her parents; her husband: Marcelo Ruiz; and her son: Juan Marcelo Ruiz.

She is survived by her children: San Juana Ruiz, Rosa Ruiz Juarez, Olga Ruiz Villarreal, Dolores Ruiz Salinas, Omar G. Ruiz, Carlos Ruiz, Jesus Hector Ruiz, Jose Roel Ruiz and Jose Luis Garza; her brothers and sisters: Maria Luisa Garza vda. de Ibarra, Ramon Garza Cantu and Rosa Elvia Garza Cantu; 23 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. 

A gathering of family and friends will take place on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Rivera Funeral Home,1901 Pecan Blvd. in McAllen from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a celebration of life service to begin at 6:00 pm. and recital of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 13, 2019 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph the Worker Church in McAllen. Cremation will follow at a later date.
