Maria Elena Infante

McAllen ~ The world lost a beloved wife, mother, sister and Sister-in-Christ. Maria Elena Infante was born in McAllen, Texas on March 6, 1934 to Jesus and Librada Herrera. 

Maria Elena was mother to Magdalena Infante-Garza, Yolanda Infante-Dean, and Alejandro Infante. She raised her children with love and devotion in McAllen, Texas with her husband of 69 years, Ernesto G. Infante.

As a dedicated nurse assistant for Saldivar's Otolaryngology, Maria Elena was know for her warmth, vibrant spirit, and love for the Lord. She was a caretaker at heart who always gave of herself to ensure that others were well cared for. Whether it was a stranger or family member, Maria Elena willingly gave of her time to help anyone in need.

Her passions included volunteering for various ministries at her church. She served as a Sunday School teacher, Children's Church director, a Deaconess and President of Women's Ministries. She dedicated numerous weekends visiting the elderly in nursing homes to play the piano and sing about the goodness of God. She was most proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and never missing an opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the young and old.

She is survived by her husband, Ernesto G. Infante; her three children, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren who all love and miss her dearly. 

Aside from the children she doted on and cared for, she was the eldest of 9 siblings and was a second mother to each one. Maria Elena is survived by her brothers, Jesse and Jimmy Herrera and her sisters, Marylou Rodriguez, Lilia Canales, Esmeralda Bechtol, and Cecilia Euresti.

A Celebration of her Life will be held at Rivera Funeral Home on Saturday, May 1st, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Masks are required and social distancing practices will be in place. Condolences, flowers, and donations for Maria Elena Infante may be offered at that time.
