Carmen co-owned The World of Plaster for several years, bringing creativity and joy to the community. She also worked for McAllen ISD in the special education department, where she encountered students every day, not as a teacher, but as a compassionate presence who ensured they felt seen, valued, and cared for. Her interactions with the children were filled with warmth, humor, and genuine kindness, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her dedication to creating a positive and inclusive environment made her beloved by students and staff alike.
As a proud and active member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Carmen found purpose in serving others and living her faith daily. Her dedication to her faith was a guiding light to those who knew her.
Carmen was known for her quick wit, hilarious jokes, and most especially, her legendary hugs. She had a way of wrapping people in her arms and making them feel safe, loved, and understood. Her hugs were her trademark-offering warmth and comfort in any situation.
She also cherished the friendships she built in her bunko group and breakfast club, treasuring the laughter and camaraderie they shared. Her kitchen table was often the site of lively conversations, a few well-timed punchlines, and a seat for anyone who needed a listening ear or a good laugh.
A woman of grace, strength, and compassion, Carmen leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Our family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Gentiva Hospice staff out of Harlingen, Texas for the incredible care, compassion, and support they provided for mom. Veronica, Mindy, Lisa, Amalia, Sarah, Janie, and Angie, we can't thank you enough!
