Maria Del Socorro Duran de Carranza

McAllen ~ Maria Del Socorro Duran de Carranza passed away on January 12, 2021 in McAllen, Texas.  The viewing will be held at Rivera Funeral Home in McAllen on January 14, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  with a Rosary starting at 7:00 p.m.  A mass will be offered in her memory on January 15, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Catholic Church Our Lady of Sorrows in McAllen, Texas.  Her final resting place will occur at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission, Texas on January 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.

Maria Del Socorro Duran de Carranza was born in Chihuahua Mexico on April 21, 1938.  She married Francisco M. Carranza and lived in Monterrey Mexico and in Reynosa Mexico for a short period of time until moving to Mission, Texas and finally settling in McAllen, Texas.  Maria provided the much-needed guidance to ensure the social, emotional, academic success of her two children by staying home and providing an environment that was conducive to success. 

Maria will be remembered for being a dear friend, a sweet aunt, a caring sister-in-law, a patient daughter-in-law, a kindhearted mother-in-law, but most importantly an exceptional mother.

Maria del Socorro Duran de Carranza is survived by her son Gerardo and wife Olga Carranza and daughter Sandra and husband Jesus Mendoza.
