Mission ~ Maria Guadalupe Martinez, 98, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family in Mission, Texas. She was born on Friday, August 12, 1927 in San Carlos, Tamaulipas, Mexico the daughter of the late Elfego Medrano and Estanislado Martinez, whom she now joins in eternal rest.
Maria was a devoted mother and grandmother whose life was rooted in faith, love, and family. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Rita De La Cruz, Esperanza Martinez, Maria De Hoyos, Guadalupe Martinez De Mireles, and Jose Antonio Martinez. She also leaves behind twenty-five grandchildren who cherished her deeply and will carry her memory forward with love.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., at Rivera Funeral Home, 901 Pecan Blvd., McAllen, Texas. Visitation will continue from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Rivera Funeral Home. A chapel service will take place on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Rivera Funeral Home. Interment will follow to Valley Memorial Gardens, 3605 N. Taylor Rd., Mission, Texas.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen.

Missión ~ María Guadalupe Martínez, de 98 años, partió en paz con el Señor el martes 20 de enero de 2026, rodeada de su querida familia en Misión, Texas. Nació el viernes 12 de agosto de 1927 en San Carlos, Tamaulipas, México, hija de los difuntos Elfego Medrano y Estanislado Martínez, con quienes ahora comparte el descanso eterno.
María fue una madre y abuela devota, cuya vida se basó en la fe, el amor y la familia. Sus hijos: Rita De La Cruz, Esperanza Martínez, María De Hoyos, Guadalupe Martínez De Mireles y José Antonio Martínez la recuerdan con cariño. También deja veinticinco nietos que la apreciaron profundamente y que la recordarán con cariño.
El velorio se llevará a cabo el miércoles 21 de enero de 2026, de 4:00 pm a 9:00 pm con el rezo del Santo Rosario a las 7:00 h en la Funeraria Rivera, ubicada en 901 Pecan Blvd., McAllen, Texas. El velatorio continuará de 9:00 am a 1:00 pm el jueves 22 de enero de 2026 en la Funeraria Rivera. El servicio religioso se llevará a cabo el jueves 22 de enero de 2026 a la 1:00 pm en la Funeraria Rivera. El entierro se realizará posteriormente en Valley Memorial Gardens, ubicado en 3605 N. Taylor Rd., Mission, Texas.
