Maria del Socorro Moreno, a beacon of love and a pillar of strength, born on February 20, 1939, in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico, departed this world on March 6, 2026, in McAllen, Texas. Her bright spirit and nurturing presence will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Maria's journey through life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family, her infectious passion, and her boundless friendliness that drew people to her.
Maria's life was a testament to the power of love and dedication. She married the love of her life, Jose Moreno Sr., and together they raised a family that was rich in values and togetherness. Although Jose Sr. preceded her in passing, the legacy they created together remains a robust framework for their sons Jose Moreno, Javier Moreno, Alberto Moreno, and Gerardo Moreno. Maria's siblings, Maria Eugenia Moran, Alicia Moran, Josefina Moran, Maria Dolores Moran, Manuela Moran, Eugenio Moran, and Maria Lucina Moran, also share in the tapestry of cherished memories she leaves behind. A proud grandmother to eight wonderful grandchildren, Maria's influence and teachings will continue to guide future generations. Each family gathering was made special by her presence, and her ability to transform simple moments into cherished memories will be greatly missed.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Wednesday, March 11th, 2026, at Rivera Funeral Home in McAllen. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm, offering a moment to reflect on the profound impact Maria had on those around her. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, March 12th, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, providing an opportunity to honor her life and her unwavering faith. Maria will be laid to rest at Roselawn Cemetery and Mausoleum, where she will be entombed, leaving a legacy of love and compassion.
