With deep love and heavy hearts, the family of Mario Valdez, Sr. announces his passing on November 1, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on March 28, 1937, Mario lived a full and dedicated life grounded in faith, family, and hard work.

Mario was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Irma Valdez, with whom he shared many cherished years. A devoted father, he leaves behind his son Mario Valdez, Jr. (Belinda Valdez), and his daughters Rosie Flores, Virginia Burns (Kent Burns), and Cynthia Maibaum (David Maibaum); sister: Martha Silva Valdez Gutierrez (Martin) and brother: Reynaldo Valdez.. He is also survived by several loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him great joy.

A god-fearing man, Mario lived his life with humility, kindness, and a steady strength. He worked many years as a mechanic, a trade he took pride in and approached with skill and patience. Outside of work, he found peace and happiness in the simple pleasures—fishing, watching wrestling, and enjoying his favorite western movies.

Mario was deeply loved and will be missed dearly by all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, and everyone who was blessed to share in his life.

Memorial services will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Monday, December 15, 2025 at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen followed by interment at La Piedad Cemetery, McAllen.
