Nelinda "Nellie" Gloria

Nelinda "Nellie" Gloria, 48, entered eternal rest on September 30, 2020. Nellie was born on December 10, 1971 to Ruben Gloria and Antonia Gloria Perez in Edinburg, Texas. She enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, family gatherings, helping people in need, dancing, listening to country and tejano music, and her grandchildren. She loved her career as CNA nurse in Amara Hospice. 

She was preceded in death by her father Ruben Gloria, her son, Jaime Vargas III, her grandparents, Pedro and Omega.

She is survived by her mother, Antonia Gloria, her sister, Aleida Martinez, her former spouse, Ramiro Velasquez, her children, Gerardo S. Gutierrez, Juan J. Gutierrez, Beatrice Gutierrez, Jaime Velasquez, Stephanie Velasquez, eight of her grandchildren and four of her step grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, 2020 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm with the recital of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm at Rivera Funeral Homes of McAllen. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. 

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and keeping with social distancing orders, all necessary restrictions will be observed in order to protect the health and safety of those in attendance. Wear face coverings while inside building. Continue to practice social distancing while inside the funeral home chapel. We continue to ask that those at risk or those not feeling well stay home and reach out to the family through our obituary page.
