McAllen ~ Nilda M. Guerra passed away suddenly on May 29, 2025. Nilda was a lifelong resident of McAllen, where she cultivated a life rich in family, friendship, and community.
After graduating from McAllen High School in 1972, Nilda dedicated over five decades of service to Lack's Furniture, where she was not just an employee but a cherished member of the Lack's family. Her work ethic and commitment to excellence were matched only by her unfailing friendliness and her innate ability to make everyone feel at home.
Nilda's life was a testament to love in action. She was the beloved wife of the late Margarito "Mike" Guerra Jr., and together they built a legacy of love and family that continued to flourish through their children, Daniel Guerra, Desirae & Andrew Dorado, and their adored grandchildren, Merideth, Julian, Mathew, & Karely. Nilda's siblings, Rudy Martinez & Norma L. Ramirez, along with her numerous nieces and nephews, will forever cherish the memories of her unwavering support and the joyful gatherings that she so loved to host.
A woman of many passions, Nilda found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her love for music and reading was only surpassed by her green thumb and love for gardening. Arts and crafts were a creative outlet for Nilda, and her love for flamingos was well known, their vibrant pink hues reflecting her own bright personality. Above all, Nilda treasured the moments spent supporting her grandchildren in all their activities, whether it was on the sidelines of a game or in the audience of a school play. Game and movie nights with the family were sacred to her, and she believed any excuse for a family night was a good one.
Nilda's generous spirit extended beyond her family. She was a friend to many, always ready with a smile, a helping hand, or a listening ear. Her loving nature was the cornerstone of her existence, and those who had the privilege of knowing her would describe her as the embodiment of friendliness, generosity, and love.
