San Juan ~ Norma Linda Cano, a loving, kind, and generous woman, passed away peacefully in her hometown of McAllen, Texas on May 7, 2023. Born on December 22, 1967, in McAllen to Rosaura and the late Gilberto Gamboa, Norma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend who touched the lives of many with her warmth and compassion.
Norma is survived by her loving family, including her son Alfredo Cano (Herlinda Garcia), Jessica Cano (Antonio Cordova), daughter-in-law Evelia Ortiz, and her grandchildren Alfredo Cano Jr., Jovanni James Cano, and Felipe Josue Cano, Evelyn Aguilar, Emily Ortiz, Roque Sebastian Cano, Elaine Guadalupe Cano. Norma was predeceased by her husband, Roque Cano, and her son, Roque Cano Jr. She is also survived by her mother Rosaura Gamboa; her siblings Irma Gamboa, Gilberto Gamboa (Jessica), Patricia Tavarez (Rogelio), Roxanne Gonzalez (Luis), and Jonathan Zapata; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Norma was predeceased by her father Gilberto Gamboa and her sister Jackie Gonzalez.
Throughout her life, Norma was known for her kindness and generosity. She was a dedicated wife and mother who always put her family first. She was a loving grandmother who doted on her grandchildren and took pride in their accomplishments. Norma was also a loyal friend who could always be counted on for a listening ear, a helping hand, or a shoulder to lean on.
Norma's love for her family extended beyond her immediate relatives. She was a caring and nurturing presence for her nieces, nephews, and the many friends and neighbors who were fortunate enough to know her. Norma's home was always open to those in need, and she was known for her delicious home-cooked meals and her knack for making everyone feel welcome and comfortable.
As we remember Norma, we celebrate her life and the many ways in which she touched our hearts. We are grateful for the time we shared with her, and we will cherish the memories we made together. Through her love, kindness, and generosity, Norma made a lasting impact on the lives of those around her, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A funeral service will be held in Norma's honor, followed by a burial alongside her late husband, Roque Cano, and their son, Roque Cano Jr. As we gather to celebrate Norma's life, we remember the love, compassion, and strength that she shared with all of us, and we give thanks for the indelible mark she left on our lives. Rest in peace, Norma Linda Cano.
Visitation will be at Rivera Funeral Home,1901 Pecan Blvd in McAllen Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm with the rosary being prayed at 7:00 pm. Funeral mass will be Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 11:00 am at St Joseph the Worker Church in McAllen. Burial will follow to La PIedad Cemetery in McAllen.
