Ofelia Benavides

McAllen ~ Ofelia Benavides was called home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on July 26, 2020 at McAllen Medical Hospital. She was 80 years old and was born in San Pablo, N.L. Ofelia is preceded in death by her parents, Rodolfo and Nazaria Ayala; her brother Isidro Ayala and a sister Emma Perez.

Ofelia is survived by her children, Jesus "Jesse" Rios and Gina (Leo) Saenz; Five grandchildren, Amanda Rios, Jesse Rios, Daniel Rios, Ashley Saenz and Emily Saenz; and 3 sisters Rosa Padilla, Amparo Ayala, and Olga Ruiz; a brother Rodolfo Ayala.

Ofelia was a radio talk host for more than 15 years for a radio station XERG in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, providing Sports News, and Talk shows and live coverage. Ofelia loved her family more than anything else in this world. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved them with all her heart and they felt it. She enjoyed spending every weekend with her children and grandchildren. She loved to dance, joke, and have so much fun making Tik-Toks with her grandchildren. She inspired her children and passed goodness to everyone that crossed her path.

In light of the current Covid-19 Pandemic, funeral services will be limited to immediate family members only.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen.
