Perfecto Salas

McAllen - Perfecto “Peto” Salas, 79, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at DHR Health.

Perfecto was born on April 18, 1941 in McAllen, Texas to Ernesto & Josefa Sotelo Salas. Peto was preceded in death by his parents Ernesto & Josefa Sotelo Salas, brother Felix Salas, sister Maria M. Ortiz and his son Juan “Joey” Jose Salas.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Maria Salas, their daughter, Jessica (Joe) Prieto, and a son Lucas (Mannie) Martinez-Salas, four granddaughters, three grandsons, and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by four brothers, Esiquio “Chico” (Lisa) Salas, Quirino Salas, Martin Salas, Roberto (Aleyda) Salas; five sisters, Isidra “Chila” Garcia, Juana Fonseca, Asuncion Salas, Ignacia Salas, and Eloisa (Javier) Guerrero.  He leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and many lifetime friends.

Peto was a wonderful and supportive husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.  He was a man with a huge heart, helping anyone he could, offering advice. Always the jokester, Peto could make anyone laugh and had the biggest smile that was contagious.  He loved baseball (Texas Rangers) and had a love/hate relationship with the Dallas Cowboys.  Peto enjoyed BBQ’s and spending time with family and friends.   He worked at Palmer Steel and then at Refco as a glazier until his retirement.  He loved crafting projects and was always willing to lend a helping hand.  Peto will be dearly missed by many, but memories of him will live in our hearts forever.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and keeping with social distancing orders, all necessary restrictions will be observed in order to protect the health and safety of those in attendance. Wear face coverings while inside building. Continue to practice social distancing while inside the funeral home chapel. We continue to ask that those at risk or those not feeling well stay home and reach out to the family through our obituary page.

Visitation for Perfecto and his son Joey Salas is scheduled for Monday, January 25, 2021 from 5:00 - 8:30pm with the recital of the Holy Rosary to be prayed at 7:30 pm at Rivera Funeral Home in McAllen, Texas.
