Mr. Polo Cardenas, 48, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend entered into eternal rest Thursday, February 13, 2020 in Denton, Texas. Polo was born May 5 , 1971 in Brownsfield, Texas to Ernesto and Nicolasa Cardenas. Polo lived and grew up in Mission, Texas. He was a 1989 graduate of La Joya High School. Polo proudly served his country with the United States Navy from 1990-1994. Polo enjoyed and loved playing the guitar, loved watching military movies, family gatherings, and he LOVED classic cars, especially the 1957 Chevy, and loved chocolate. Polo truly loved his role of Grandpa to his 6 grandchildren. Polo truly lived life to its fullest. He will be dearly missed by his family and those that came to know him.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife: Lilia Cardenas; His children: Cesilia (John) Flores, Casey Cardenas, Andrea (Emmanuel) Marquez, Victor Cardenas; His grandchildren: Leah, Mila, Emmanuel Jr. Marquez, and Daniella, Gabby, and Gracie Flores. Parents: Ernesto and Nicolasa Cardenas; Siblings: Ernesto Javier Cardenas, Oscar Cardenas, Ruth Cardenas, and Efrain Cardenas.
A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Rivera Funeral Home, 1813 N. Conway,in Mission from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a prayer service to begin at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be Friday, February 21, 2020 at 9:30 am at the funeral home chapel. Interment will be at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery 2520 South Inspiration Road
Mission, Texas 78572 at 11:00 am with military honors under the auspices of VFW post 8788 of McAllen. Pallbearers will be: Oscar Cardenas, Efrain Cardenas, Harold Elliott, Jr., Armando Cano, Eddie Cano, Diego Garza, Joe Solis and Reymundo Rodriguez.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Rivera Funeral Home in Mission.
