Qussie (Gideon) Harvey Obituary

Qussie Elain Gideon discovered Texas February 14, 1933 in LaRue, Texas. She discovered Heave February 26, 2025. Her parents were Artur J V Gideon and Vera Leona Adair Gideon. She has one brother A J Gideon who preceded her in death

She received Jesus Christ as her Savior when she was 8 or 9 at Fundamental Baptist Church in Palmer, Texas.

She met and fell in love with Billy J. Harvey and they were married October 6, 1960. They had one son, Steven, who preceded them in death on August 11, 2020.

Qussie's remaining relatives are her husband, Billy J. Harvey; niece, Elaine Blakely and her sister-in-law, Martha Gideon.

Bill and Qussie Harvey were approved as missionaries of the Baptist Bible Fellowship International in May of 1957. By 1958 they were in Mexico City studying the language. In 1959 Dr. Donnelson, Director of Missions of the BBFI, asked them if they would be willing to take over the leadership of the Instituto Biblico Bautista in Ciudad, Mante, Tamaulipas, Mexico, where they remained until health no longer permitted it. They continued and continue supporting it through finances and prayer. Many students were trained and mentored by then and are serving in Mexico, USA and other countries around the world as missionaries. Qussie taught many classes in Bible College, one of them being World Missions that has made a great impact in Mexico and in other countries. All Remember her from her excellent teaching as well as her love and care of the students and workers.

Qussie or Hermana Elena as she was called by the people of Mexico, was very active in starting churches with her husband. She taught a large ladies' class for many years at the Iglesia Bautista Biblica de Mante, winning and discipling many. She directed the Sunday School which grew by leaps and bounds. Then the church in Xicotencatl (5 de mayo) was begun and also  grew to be a large active church. When the Divine Savior Baptist Church was started as a mission out of the first church, they saw it grow and mature as the other churches. After leaving Mante, they started the Balcones Baptist Church in Reynosa and saw it also become a soul0winning, mature, self-supporting and self-propagating church. All of these churches have started other churches and many others were also begun all over Mexico and on other mission fields by graduates of the Bible College. God's ministry through them is being multiplied over and over.

Her favorite chapter in the Bible is Psalm 91, which begins with these words: "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: My God; in him I will trust."

She is loved and appreciated by family, thousands of Mexicans, fellow missionaries and many other friends. We look forward to seeing her in heaven soon.
