McAllen ~ It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Ramon Barreiro who passed away at his residence in McAllen, Texas on July 14, 2021 at the age of 77.
Ramon Barreiro was born in McAllen, TX on January 28, 1944 to Monico and Estefana Barreiro. He attended McAllen High School and upon graduation enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was then deployed to Vietnam serving 2 combat tours. Upon his return he married his high school sweetheart Sylvia Loza and became a firefighter serving the City of McAllen until his retirement 30 plus years later.
Ramon Barreiro is preceded in death by his loving wife, parents and his brother, Gilberto.
Ramon Barreiro is survived by his three sons: Ruben L. Barreiro (Yolanda), Roel Barreiro and Roberto L. Barreiro; his brothers and sisters: Alfredo Barreiro (Marta), Guadalupe Barreiro (Rogelio Reyes), Monico Barreiro (Minerva), Sylvia Barreiro (George Villarreal), George Barreiro (Elizabeth), Eliamar Barreiro (Sergio Garcia +) and Veronica Barreiro; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Monday, July 19, 2021 at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen with the recital of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm. Celebration of Life Mass will be said at 11:30 am Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow with full Military Honors at 1:00 pm at Rio Grande Valley State Veteran's Cemetery in Mission. Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen.
