Raquel Garcia Olabarrieta

McAllen ~ Raquel Garcia Olabarrieta, 80 was promoted into God's Glory Friday, January 15, 2021, at her home. Born in McAllen, TX, Mrs. Olabarrieta lived in McAllen most of her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Olabarrieta was a dedicated Licensed Vocational Nurse, and specialized within the Geriatric Population most of her professional life. She is preceded in death by her husband, Marcelo Olabarrieta; son, Anthony Marcelo Olabarrieta; parents, Maria O. Rodriguez and Cayetano Garcia; one brother, Jose Cayetano Garcia.

Mrs. Olabarrieta is survived by her children: Albert (Alicia) Olabarieta of McAllen, Anaid (Tammy) Ochoa of San Juan, Aaron Paul Olabarrieta of McAllen and Timothy Olabarrieta of McAllen; 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Rebecca Rodriguez, Olga Heredia, and brother Roberto (Guille) Garcia.

Limited viewing will be held Friday, January 22, 2021 from 9:00 am to 11:30 am at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. Interment will follow at 12:00 pm at Roselawn Cemetery in McAllen. 

Pallbearers will be Mark Olabarrieta, Matthew Olabarrieta, Janelle Olabarrieta, James Robison, Anthony Marcelo Olabarrieta and Joshua Olabarrieta. Honorary Pallbearers will be Roberto Garcia, Lebardo Ochoa, Michael B. Olabarrieta, Aaron Olabarrieta and Jacob Olabarrieta.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and keeping with social distancing orders, all necessary restrictions will be observed in order to protect the health and safety of those in attendance. Wear face coverings while inside building. Continue to practice social distancing while inside the funeral home chapel. We continue to ask that those at risk or those not feeling well stay home and reach out to the family through our obituary page.
