In loving memory of Raul Mata Jr.

Today we come together to celebrate the life of Raul Mata Jr. 45 years old of Edinburg, Tx, our beloved husband, stepdad, father, grandfather, son, brother and a friend. A man who was gentle yet strong, humble yet full of love.

Raul was born on December, 2, 1979 in Pharr, Texas, but was raised in Edinburg, Texas where he attended school and was proud to be a cougar where he was able to achieve and earn recognition by US President bush for joining military school. His passion was working in his grandpas family business at Mata's Paving where he learned the trade and mastered all heavy machinery at a very young age. Raul's passion was also music, he learned from his grandpa and uncles how to play the drums when they would have family gatherings. His favorite music was Tejano and learned how to dance to that style of music, he was great at dancing. His last but not least passion was drawing, that was his greatest passion and was so great at it. Before God called him home he was very spiritually in tuned with God, not a day would go by that he would always be fasting and praying to be rich in love and full of faith.

He loved his wife Haydee of 7 1/2 years with a quiet intensity he admired her, defended her and was awaiting to stand by her side for the rest of his life. When they married on August 22, 2019 he looked her in the eyes with so much love and pride and said without hesitation, "I do till death do us part."

On March 24, 2025 he went to be with our Lord and Savior, he is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Eugenio & Trinidad Reyna, and paternal grandparents, Damaso & Claudina Mata. 

He is survived by his loving wife Haydee De Leon Mata, son Kristopher A. Mata and 5 step-sons that he loved dearly, Adrian, Jacob, Isaac, Armando & Gabriel. Daughters Alyssa D. Mata, Dezire T. Mata; and 2 grandsons. He is also survived by his parents Raul (Elizabeth) Mata, mother Silvia Reyna and sister Linda Mata.. 

Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen with a Prayer service at 7:00 pm.

Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen.
