Ricardo Mata, Sr., 69, entered eternal rest on Friday May 27, 2022 at his residence in McAllen. He was born on Monday April 13, 1953 in McAllen, Texas, the son of Manuel and Beatriz (Castillo) Mata. He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Mata in 2016 and Beatriz Mata in 2009; and by his brother, Roel Mata in 1981.
He is survived by his wife: Maria Mata of McAllen; son: Ricardo Mata, Jr. of McAllen; daughter: Marie Michelle (Mata) Rodriguez (Johnny Rodriguez) of McAllen; grandchildren: Ricardo (Stephanie) Mata, III, Alexis Dominique Mata, Andrea Danielle Mata, Karis Rose Mata, Alejandro Elias Mata, Felipe Cristian Garza, Johnny Rodriguez, Jr., Victoria Marie Rodriguez, and Jozlin Jisselle Rodriguez; siblings: Roberto (Irma) Mata of McAllen, Ruben (Linda†) Mata of McAllen, Rosa (Cesar) Gomez of McAllen, Rogelio (Hortencia) Mata of McAllen, Ramiro (Patricia) Mata of McAllen, Rolando (Patty) Mata of McAllen and Manuel Mata, III of McAllen.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 9:00 PM Monday, May 30, 2021 with the Holy Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. Visitation on Tuesday, May 31, 2021 will be from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm with the Holy Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 2209 Kendlewood Ave., McAllen. Celebration of Life Mass will be said at 1:30 pm Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Ricardo Mata, Jr., Ramiro Mata, Ricardo Mata, III, Alejandro Mata, Felipe Garza and Manuel Mata, III. Honorary pallbearers will be Ruben Mata, Roberto Mata, Rogelio Mata, Rolando Mata and Johnny Rodriguez.
Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen.
