Ricardo Peña, Sr.

McAllen ~ Ricardo Peña, Sr., known affectionately as Peña to his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2024, in McAllen, TX, at the age of 62. Born on March 2, 1962, in Pharr, TX, he was a man whose laughter and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Peña was a devoted family man, deeply loved by his mother, Alicia A. Peña, and his beloved wife, Martha Hinojosa. His brother,  Hector P. Guerrero, Cleotilde Guerrero (Sister), Gonzalo Guerrero, and his wife Derly S. Guerrero, Omar Peña, and his wife Eva, shared many cherished memories with him. 

His role as a father was one he held dear, and he leaves behind his children, Kassandra Peña, Christian Peña, and Ricardo Peña Jr., along with his son-in-law Alex and daughter-in-law Samantha. His grandchildren, Axel Pena, Ricardo III, Aaliyah, Jonathan, Heriberto, Chelsea, Amber, and Daniel, will miss their grandfather's loving presence and the joy he brought to their lives.

Peña's life was one of passion and pleasure in the simple things. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, rarely missing a game and always ready to cheer on his team with vigor. His love for the open road was evident in his care for his Camaro and the freedom he felt riding his Harley-Davidson Motorcycle. With skilled hands and a keen eye, Peña excelled as an auto mechanic, a profession where he not only fixed cars but also forged lasting friendships.

Those who knew Peña will remember him as a loving, funny, and thoughtful man. His sense of humor was infectious, and he had a knack for making everyone around him smile. He was considerate and always took the time to help others, whether it was with a kind word, a helpful tip under the hood of a car.

Ricardo Peña's legacy is one of love and laughter, of moments shared and memories cherished. As we say farewell to a man who was the heart of his family, a friend to many, and a bright light in the lives of those he touched, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will live on in the stories we tell and the love we carry in our hearts. As we gather to honor his memory, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man well-loved. Ricardo Peña will be deeply missed, but the warmth of his love and the echo of his laughter will remain with us always.His journey on this earth may have come to an end, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy is not just in the bloodline he leaves behind but in the countless memories and the immeasurable impact he had on the lives he touched.

We honor the life of Ricardo Peña, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His story is one of love, laughter, and a life well-lived. As we reflect on his time with us, we find comfort in knowing that his was a life that exemplified the very essence of what it means to be a part of a family, to be a friend, and to be a man who lived with his heart wide open to the world.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm Tuesday, March 19, 2024 with the recitel of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen.
