Richard Lugo Garcia

Ft. Myers, FL / McAllen ~ Richard Lugo Garcia, 75, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday May 20, 2025 at his residence in Ft. Myers, Florida. He was born on Monday August 15, 1949 in McAllen, Texas, the son of Paul Garcia and Martina Lugo. He is preceded in death by two siblings: Paul Garcia and Ida Garcia.                                                                                      

Richard was devoted to his family. He put the needs and happiness of his loved ones above all else. He enjoyed family gatherings, spending quality time with his children and sharing in their company. He loved the beach and left his children many memories of their fun times there. An avid football fan, even in Florida, he was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. 

He is survived by his children: Mark Garcia, Melissa Ann Garcia and Robin Lynn Ortiz (Rey Ortiz); siblings: Raymond Garcia, LeeRoy Garcia, Rene Garcia, and Irene Garcia; grandchildren: Jacob Pedraza, Aaron Ortiz, Aaliyah R. Rodriguez, Aaliyah E. Ortiz, Ava Barraza, Skylar Ortiz, and Devyn Ortiz.              

Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday, May 29, 2025 with the Holy Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm at Rivera Funeral Home, 1901 Pecan Blvd., McAllen. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, May 30, 2025 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 2209 Kendlewood Ave., McAllen. Interment will follow at 11:00 am at Valley Memorial Gardens, 3601 Taylor Rd, Mission.
