Rogelio Rolando "Roy" Elizondo passed away peacefully on February 20, 2025, in McAllen, Texas. Roy’s 80 years were a testament to a life fully cherished, characterized by strength and a generous spirit. His presence and kindness touched many, and he will be profoundly missed.
Born to Araceli and Rogelio Elizondo on December 19, 1944, Roy grew up in McAllen, Texas, alongside his eleven siblings. He ventured to California, to study Biology at UCLA and secured a real estate licenses in both California and Texas. His natural charisma, sharp intellect, and business acumen led him to establish his own successful enterprise in McAllen.
As the owner of American Realtors and Construction, Roy was a respected leader in the real estate community, admired for his integrity and innovation. He began his career with Century 21, and as his success grew, he opened his own franchise. Later, he established his own company, American Realtors and Construction, further cementing his influence in the industry. His involvement in various associations and civic endeavors helped to shape the landscape of the Rio Grande Valley.
Roy's passion for life, people, and his family was evident in every action. He approached each day with a commitment to positively impact those around him. Friends will remember him as a man who generously shared his time, energy, and attention, the first to offer a helping hand or wisdom. Roy's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the significant influence he had on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.
Preceded in death by his parents, sister Elva Alicia, and brother Ramiro, Roy is survived by siblings Yolanda, Nora Elia, Ruben, Gloria, Maricela, Leticia, Guillermina, Graciela, and Araceli. He also leaves behind his former spouse and lifelong best friend Imelda Elizondo, three children Darla, David, Denise and Ryan and grandchildren Sebastian Roy and Maya Jane.
As we say goodbye to husband, father, brother, and friend Roy Elizondo, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man well-loved. His memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories shared, the values he instilled, and the love he so freely gave. A service will be held to honor Roy's life. Visitations will be held from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm Monday, February 24, 2025 with the Holy Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 pm Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 2201 Martin Ave., McAllen, Texas. Interment will follow at 3:00 pm at Valley Memorial Gardens, 3605 N. Taylor Rd. in Mission, Texas. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen.
