Mission ~ San Juana Marquez, a loving and spirited woman whose faith and devotion touched everyone who knew her, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 75. Born on Saturday, April 7, 1951, in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico, she carried the values of her upbringing throughout her life. She later made her home in Mission, Texas, where she lived in her community for 47 years. San Juana was a devoted member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Mission, Texas, and her faith was an important part of her life. She found strength, comfort, and purpose in her church community, and she lived her life with grace, humility, and a deep commitment to those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Isidro Arredondo and Melchora Guajardo, as well as her brother, Leobardo Arredondo.
San Juana is survived by her loving husband, Daniel Marquez; three daughters: Maria Angelica Galeazzi (Jorge Galazzi), Myrna Mireya Marquez (Ricardo Gamboa), and Rosa Marta Marquez (Sergio Narvaez); eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. San Juana is also survived by her siblings: Gustavo Arredondo, Guillermo Arredondo, Gregoria Arredondo, Juan Arredondo, and Maria Rosa Arredondo.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Rivera Funeral Home, 1813 N. Conway, Mission. A chapel service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Rivera Funeral Home of Mission, followed by interment at 11:00 a.m. at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission.
San Juana Marquez will be remembered for her loving heart, her spirited nature, and the devotion she showed to her family, her faith, and her community. Her life was a beautiful reflection of kindness, perseverance, and love, and her memory will remain a lasting blessing to all who knew her.
