San Juanita Perez Obituary

McAllen ~ San Juanita Myrna Leal-Perez, 74, entered eternal rest on Thursday, December 16, 2021. She is survived by her daughters: Melissa Ana Perez, Marilu Iris (Daniel) Muñoz, Myrna Elena Perez, Marcella Andrea (Leonel Jr) Oyervidez and Melinda Marie Perez; her grandchildren: Daniel Carlos Muñoz (Alyssa), Dante Jose Muñoz, Dariana Iris Muñoz and Adela Marie Lopez; her brothers: Aurelio Leal Jr. (Rosie), Marco Leal (Viola), Robert Leal; her sisters: Frances (Maclovio) Perez, Rosario (Richard) Cepeda.

Myrna is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Carlos Perez; and her parents, Aurelio Leal and Domitila (Herrera) Leal.

Myrna was born in Reynosa, Tamaulipas Mexico on February 12, 1947. She immigrated to the United States with her parents in 1954. Myrna graduated from McAllen High School in 1966 and married her high school sweetheart, Carlos Perez, in 1968. Together the young couple started their family in Houston, TX before moving back to McAllen in 1982.

Myrna was a devout member of the Catholic Church and remained a humble servant of our Lord Jesus Christ throughout her life. Along with her late husband, Myrna was very involved with several organizations as a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a Catechist for 10 years, an active member of The Altar Society and the St. Vincent de Paul Society and was regularly involved in the planning and volunteer work for the Fall Festival (Family Fiesta) and other parish fund raisers. Myrna was a Godly woman and a true friend and mentor to many at Sacred Heart.

Myrna was a homemaker and devoted housewife that raised five beautiful daughters. She was the epitome of the proverb, “Behind every great man, there is a great woman.” Everyone that had the opportunity to meet her was struck by her beauty, grace and humility. Those that were fortunate enough to know her well, can attest to her beautiful heart and gentle soul. Those that cared for her will never forget her strength and courage till the end.
