Senaida Perez

Senaida Perez, 81, of Albuquerque, NM passed away on April 4, 2024 with her family by her side. Senaida, born in Alpine, TX, is survived by her children: Cesario Perez, Jr., Maria Criselda Harwood, Michael Anthony Perez, and John Dominique Perez. Additionally, she leaves behind her only grandchild Jacob Wade Harwood along with her half brothers and sister in Amarillo, TX. Senaida is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Cesario Perez, her parents Luciano Rodriguez and Elma Tarín, son-in-law Jason Wade Harwood, Ycela Perez and John David Perez. Senaida worked for twenty-four years with the McAllen School District, primarily as a secretary to the school principal. She served as a CCD Instructor and Eucharistic Minister at St. Joseph the Worker Church in McAllen. Senaida served in the Rosary Guild and Altar Society at Most Holy Rosary Church in Albuquerque, NM. A caring and gentle, yet strong soul, she fulfilled and exceeded in her roles as a gracious wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Born with a reverence for the natural world, Senaida found solace and wonder in the gentle embrace of nature. Whether she was displaying her love for our Blessed Mother by praying the Rosary in her garden, tending to her plants, rock hunting or birdwatching, all of those around her knew that her vitality came from being outdoors. The beauty she saw in God’s creation fueled her artistic passion, driving her to create stained glass artwork and tin repujado that centered around her faith and her love for plants and animals. Her unwavering devotion to God and His Church inspired those around her to grow in their relationships with the Almighty, and her life in Christ was a testament to the power of faith and perseverance. Senaida always mentioned how much she loved her in-law relatives and friends. She loved dancing with her husband, Cesario, and listening to Agustín Lara music. She had a beautiful saying that resonated with all of us and illustrated who she was, “Thank you por todo.”

A Rosary will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 7:00pm, with family and friends attending from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Rivera Funeral Home in McAllen (1901 Pecan Blvd,

McAllen, TX 78501). The funeral mass will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at St. Joseph the Worker Church in McAllen (900 S 23rd St, McAllen, TX 78501). In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the ALS Foundation (donate.als.org).
