Serafin L. Jaramillo, a cherished father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Mission, Texas on Tuesday, February 24th, 2026, at the age of 98. Born on October 24th, 1927, in the loving family of Ladislado Jaramillo and Rita Lopez, Serafin's life was a testament to his kind, spirited, and loving nature.
Serafin spent 30 glorious years in Chicago, a city that captured his heart and where he developed a passionate allegiance to both the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox. His love for baseball was more than a pastime; it was a reflection of his dedication and enthusiasm for the things he cherished. In 1988, he moved to McAllen, Texas, bringing with him the same zeal and warmth that had characterized his time in the Windy City.
Left to honor Serafin's memory are his loving daughters: Teresa Saenz (Oliver) and Nancy Perez (Salvador); his siblings: Maria De Los Angeles Jaramillo, Miguel Jaramillo, Jose Jaramillo, Florinda Vasquez, and Abigail Fonseca; grandchildren: Marissa Sandoval ( Edgar) Ariel Calcutt (Bryce)Mark Hernández, Eric Hernández (Keeley), and Érica Montoya (Michael); five great-grandchildren: Julian Sandoval, Marylssa Sandoval, Ian Hernández, Elliott Hernández, and Kinsley Hernandez.
He now joins in eternal rest his beloved wife, Florinda Jaramillo, who preceded him in death in 1975, and his siblings, Ramon Jaramillo, Abel Jaramillo, and Luz Jaramillo Espinoza, along with his parents.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Wednesday, March 4th, 2026, with a Holy Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm at Rivera Funeral Home, 1901 Pecan Blvd., McAllen. A Celebration of Life Mass is scheduled for 12:00 pm, Thursday, March 5th, 2026, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 2209 Kendlewood Ave., McAllen. Interment will follow at 1:00 pm at Valley Memorial Gardens, 3605 N. Taylor Rd., Mission. Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen.
Serafin L. Jaramillo's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of love, resilience, and an unwavering spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him, and his legacy will continue to inspire those he has left behind.
