Victor Chapa Obituary

Victor Eduardo Chapa, affectionately known as "Shine" to his friends, departed this world on September 2, 2024 in his hometown of McAllen, Texas, where he was born on June 8, 1980. Shine's life was marked by his loving nature, kind heart, and unforgettable sense of humor which brought light and joy to everyone he encountered.

He leaves behind his loving spouse, Patricia Chapa, of 24 years and their children, Marimar, Tristan, Bonnie, and Victor Jr., who will forever hold onto the precious memories and lessons he imparted. Shine was a proud grandfather to Roselen, whose youthful spirit and laughter mirrored his own and was also anticipating the arrival of his newest granddaughter Olivia next year. His mother-in-law Maria Ceron, father Valentin Chapa Jr., mother Alicia Myers (Richard), siblings Valentin Chapa III (Cindy), Venessa LeBaron, Valerie Chapa-Martinez, and sister-in-law Linda Peisen (Marty), and numerous nieces and nephews, who will remember Victor as a source of love and strength within their family.

Victor’s journey began in McAllen, where he attended McHi, laying a foundation for the numerous friendships he would foster throughout his life. He spent over a decade working at Suerte Bar & Grill, where he served with dedication in various roles, including bouncer, cook, bartender, and bar manager. His colleagues and patrons alike admired his work ethic and the warm hospitality he extended to all. Shine also contributed his talents to L&F Distributors for two years, working diligently as a runner and clerk.

Victor loved home cooked meals at home every night surrounded by family at the table, something he prided himself on.  He looked forward to his favorite family events such as BBQ’s, pool time, and weekly game nights. Laughters all night surrounded by his children and nieces Ari and Brianna. Everyday was endless joy with Wyatt, his nephew who always enjoyed time with Tio Victor. He loved nothing more than to be surrounded by all his family, allowing him to be the child he was at heart.

Victor’s departure leaves a lasting mark on the hearts of those who knew him. His ability to light up a room with his humor and warmth will be dearly missed, yet his spirit will continue to inspire those he has left behind. The world is undoubtedly a better place for having been graced by his presence.

While Victor’s physical journey has concluded, the legacy he created through moments of laughter, acts of kindness, and the bonds he strengthened will endure. His life was a vivid tapestry of love, service, and joy, woven into the lives of all who knew him.

The Chapa family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the family and friends who have sent their support and love during this time of remembrance. Victor's memory will be honored not through grand gestures but through the continuation of the love and kindness he so freely gave during his lifetime.

It gives us great comfort knowing he is no longer in pain, with our Lord and Savior surrounded by his loved ones including his sister-in-law Lisa, father-in-law Chico, Gramita and one of his best friends Aaron "ICE".
