Pharr ~ Yolanda Aguilar, a beacon of kindness and generosity, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, in McAllen, Texas, at the age of 67. Born on February 22, 1958, in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico, Yolanda's life was a vivid tapestry of love, laughter, and dedication to her family and those around her.

Yolanda's was a cherished sister to Ignacio Hernandez, Maria de Jesus Hernandez, Alicia Contreras, Alma Ramirez, Josefina Hernandez, and Sergio Hernandez. Her parents, Jesus Hernandez and Lina Garcia, who preceded her in death, along with siblings Rosalinda Hernandez and Jose Marcelino Hernandez, instilled in her the values of faith, compassion, and the importance of family—a legacy she carried throughout her life.

Yolanda found joy and companionship in her marriage to Jorge Aguilar. Together, they raised a beautiful family, including their children Ylianda Aguilar, Yolanda Martinez, Edna Rincon, and Jorge Franko Aguilar. Yolanda's heart swelled with pride for her ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who were the recipients of her endless affection and her renowned home-cooked meals.

Yolanda's life was a testament to her unwavering faith and her commitment to the Catholic Church, which guided her through life's trials and triumphs. Her devotion was evident in her daily life and in the way she nurtured her family's spiritual growth.

Yolanda was the personification of love and generosity. She was the glue that held family gatherings together, always ensuring that everyone felt included and cherished. Her infectious laughter was a source of joy and comfort, and it will echo in the memories of those who knew her.

She dedicated her life to tending to her parents, raising her children, and later, delighting in her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. Her home was a hub of activity, filled with the smells of delicious food and the sounds of laughter, where everyone was always welcome.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm Wednesday, January 14, 2026 with a Holy Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm at Rivera Funeral Home, 1901 Pecan Blvd., McAllen. Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 208 E. Camelia Ave., Hidalgo. 

As we bid farewell to Yolanda Aguilar, we remember a woman whose life was a beautiful reflection of the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed by her husband, children, siblings, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the countless lives she touched. Yolanda's legacy will continue to inspire and influence generations to come, and her spirit will remain a guiding light for her family. Her departure has left a void that can never be filled, but the memories she created will be cherished forever.
